Lip flip is not a new method, but many people are still unfamiliar with it. The treatment involves injecting small amounts of a muscle relaxant (botulinum toxin type A) near the edge of the upper lip. This causes the circular muscle around the mouth to relax partially, causing the upper lip to turn slightly outward. The effect is that the lip looks slightly fuller, without adding any direct volume.

What does the research say?
Botulinum toxin type A (Botox) is a neurotoxin that temporarily blocks the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. This substance is needed for muscles to contract. By limiting signal transmission, muscle activity can be reduced, which in turn gives the skin a smoother and more relaxed appearance. The same principle is used in the treatment of, for example, forehead wrinkles or crow's feet
