The nose is such a prominent feature, but it needs to be compatible and balanced with the other facial features. This is called facial harmony and is made up by your gender, ethnicity, bone structure, facial dimensions, and the aesthetic shape of your face. Your nose must look like it belongs with the rest of your face. Rhinoplasty or a nose job is designed specifically to make your nose “fit” your face. In 2003, The Journal of Laryngology & Otology published a study called, External rhinoplasty: a critical analysis of 500 cases. The study found that there was an overall patient satisfaction rate of an astounding 95.6%!
Our patients find that their new nose gives them a significant boost in their self-confidence, since they’re no longer embarrassed about it. Some also find that they experience a remarkable improvement in their breathing ability and don’t snore as much anymore.
Before and after:
When can you have rhinoplasty?
You should not have a nose surgery until the nose has reached its adult size. This is normally at about age 15 or 16 for girls and a year or so later for boys.
Reasons for a nose surgery?
- Removing a hump on the nose
- Straightening the bridge
- Reshaping the nose’s tip
- Increasing or decreasing the size of the nostrils
- Correcting the nose after an injury
- Opening breathing passages
- Making the nose bigger or smaller
Surgery at Estetikcentrum
nose job is one of the most difficult cosmetic procedures to perform, not only because your nose is so visible, but also because it’s such a central and identifying facial feature. Even the subtlest of changes can make a huge impact on your appearance, to the point that people can no longer recognize you.
You want to change your nose for the better, but still look like you. That’s why it’s critical that you select the right surgeon to perform your surgery.
10 Reasons Why Your nose job in Malmö is Better at Estetikcentrum
1. Our Rhinoplasty Surgeon Has Been Performing The Surgery For Over 25 Years.
Dr. Farooq Nasseri is our rhinoplasty specialist who has been performing nose jobs for over 25 years. As a distinguished board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Nasseri is a member of the Danish Doctor Society, Danish Society for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (DSPR), the International Society of Plastic and Regenerative Surgery (ISPRES) and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).
Dr. Nasseri has extensive knowledge of facial anatomy. He has performed hundreds of nose jobs to date, varying from simple to complex. In fact, Dr. Nasseri began his medical career as a reconstruction specialist, and only branched out into cosmetic surgery a few years later. Many of the nose jobs he has performed have been reconstructive. This is an important point.
The purpose of reconstructive nose surgery is to restore normal function. It also improves appearance. Your nose may not have developed properly due to a health condition or may have been damaged in an accident — either way, the effect can be devastating. Bone and cartilage of the nose all have to be modified with extreme precision to reshape and restore it to be more normal in appearance and function. This makes reconstructive surgery far more complex. Because of the countless reconstructive nose surgeries that he has performed, Dr. Nasseri is able to achieve your aesthetic goals, regardless of how difficult they may appear to be.
2. We Maintain Nasal Function.
When it comes to rhinoplasty, a great deal of attention is placed on the intended visual aesthetic of the nose, but maintaining nasal function is just as important. If the underlying support structures of the nose (cartilage and bone) are weak, they can lead to both unwanted changes in the appearance of the nose as it heals, as well as the development of breathing problems. Our surgeon is highly experienced and well qualified to add long-lasting strength to the nasal structures, ensuring healthy breathing. Your septum will be reinforced by modifying the cartilage in your nose. Surrounding cartilage may be bent in a way that it supports the septum for extra support. This is our unique surgical method, not every surgeon does this, but we have found that the result is a better and stronger nose structure. You’ll also find that this method dramatically reduces breathing issues in the future. In addition, by using an external technique to rhinoplasty, our surgeon can take a structural approach, and establish the support needed for the ideal appearance.
3. Your Ethnic Identity Is Preserved.
All ethnic groups have subtle, but important characteristics that the surgeon must leave intact. We are able to enhance the nose without losing any of its original ethnic features. In order for a rhinoplasty to be considered a success, your new nose should “fit in” with your ethnicity. To achieve this, certain features of your nose may need to be changed or preserved so they better fit the cultural norm. Our surgeon has both extensive technical and surgical skills, as well as the understanding of facial harmony and the artistry needed to create a nose that not only looks great on its own, but is in perfect harmony with the rest of your face.
4. Open Rhinoplasty Is Our Specialty.
There are two types of nose jobs: closed and open. The closed technique involves making incisions inside the nostrils and working through these to modify the nose as desired. The benefit of this technique is that no scar is visible on the outside of the nose. However, the downside is that it’s much more difficult for the surgeon to see what he/she is doing. They can only see through the small incisions made inside the nose. And because rhinoplasty requires extreme precision to achieve results, the closed approach, where the surgeon operates somewhat blindly, it isn’t as preferred as the open approach.
Open, or external, rhinoplasty is a technique that involves making a very small horizontal incision under the columella, the skin and cartilage that separates the two nostrils. This is called a trans-columellar incision, and joins the incision in the left and right nostril. Through this external incision, the surgeon is able to see all tissues that need to be modified. This results in a highly precise correction. While it does leave you with a tiny scar, this scar is only visible if someone is looking upward at you, below your nose.
Dr. Nasseri has performed countless nose jobs using both the open and closed method. In his experience, the open method allows for a smoother and more natural looking result, with a much higher satisfaction rate. That’s why he has refined his surgical techniques to give you the least amount of scarring as possible. Our patients do not complain about their scar even if they had an open rhinoplasty because it’s pretty much invisible!
5. We Reduce The Risk Of Infection.
As with any surgical procedure, rhinoplasty carries a small risk of infection. As rhinoplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia, we administer antibiotics before the procedure even begins. This is called “antibiotic prophylaxis.” Antibiotic prophylaxis is a simple but important measure that helps to dramatically reduce the risk of infection following surgery. Infections following rhinoplasty are quite rare, but we believe that it’s better to reduce this risk as much as possible for your safety and overall well-being.
6. We Minimize Bleeding During Surgery For Less Bruising And A Faster Recovery.
Bleeding and bruising are two big concerns related to rhinoplasty. The more you bleed during surgery, the more trauma there is. This increases the amount of bruising you’re left with post-surgery and prolongs the recovery period. We don’t want this to happen to you! We minimize bleeding by one or both of the following techniques:
– During surgery, our surgeon applies an advanced anticoagulation technique called diathermy. Diathermy, also known as electrocautery, seals vessels in the nose so that bleeding is minimized.
– Before your surgery, a local anesthesia is injected into your nose. This anesthesia includes lidocaine (Xylocaine) and adrenaline. Adrenaline significantly decreases the amount of bleeding that occurs during surgery.
7. You’re Observed By Your Very Own Recovery Room Nurse.
As soon as your procedure is complete, you’re taken to the recovery room. Once there, you can rest peacefully for a few hours before being discharged. As you relax, an experienced recovery room nurse will patiently sit with you and monitor your vitals until you’re ready to go home. If you need any assistance, or you just have questions or concerns, your nurse will be right there to help you.
8. You Get A Goodie Bag Before You Go Home.
No one goes home empty handed! Not only will we provide you with free refreshments to enjoy while you’re resting, you’ll also be sent home with complete step-by-step post-op self-care instructions and a treat-filled goodie bag. You won’t leave us without everything you’ll need to make sure your nose job experience is positive!
9. You’ll Get A Medical Note Allowing You To Take 2 Weeks Off.
It’s incredibly important that you dedicate yourself to rest in the first couple of weeks right after your nose job. Taking it easy during this time is crucial for a faster recovery. That’s why you’ll get a medical note to give to your employer entitling you to 2 weeks off from work. This will allow you to take the time off you’ll need for your recovery, without worrying about work stress.
10. If You’re Left With A Major Issue After Your nose job, Your Revision Surgery Is Free.
Our patients usually get the results they want the first time around. However, in the highly unlikely event that you are left with a major issue or complication that needs to be resolved, it’s good to know that it will be corrected by us at no extra charge if it can be done by surgery. You won’t have to pay for anything — we’ll take care of everything!
Please note that patients should have realistic expectations of surgery. Issues, such as 100% symmetry between the left and right side of the nose, are not achievable with rhinoplasty. This is because the left and right side of your face are not perfectly symmetrical either, and your nose has to match this for the most natural result. Minor issues may need revision surgery at an additional cost.
Your nose job consultation:
The first step in your journey is meeting with your surgeon. You’ll talk about what issues you have with your nose and your desired outcome. You might want to bring in photos of noses that you like. Although it’s important to understand that those noses may not be the most suitable for your face, it will give us a better understanding of what you’re aiming to achieve.
Your current condition and medical history will also be reviewed to determine whether nose job is safe for you. Unlike other clinics where you meet a “patient consultant” or nurse, this consultation is with the exact surgeons who will be performing your surgery. That way, not only will you be sure that the doctor operating understands what you want, but you can also see if you feel comfortable with them.
Preparation before nose job:
Your surgeon will discuss important factors to consider before the nose job. They include:
- Medical history, including a history of nasal obstruction, surgeries and any medications you take.
- A physical exam, including any laboratory tests, such as blood tests and examining your facial features and the inside and outside of your nose.
- Photographs, from different angles. These photos permit a specific discussion about the goals of surgery.
- No smoking, two weeks before the surgery
A Note On Simulated Rhinoplasty Results With Computer Imaging Software
We do not believe in rhinoplasty imaging software. We have found that the predicted images displayed by this software are not accurate because it doesn’t take into account your unique attributes and facial structure. Patients are often tricked into believing that they’ll get something that is impossible to achieve because of circumstances that the software doesn’t consider. nose job is not a video game, so we prefer to discuss the potential results of your surgery without giving you false promises.
Don’t Know What You Want To Fix?
While a lot of patients seeking a nose job have a specific goal in mind, many others are not sure what kind of nose shape will best complement their face. Our surgeons is committed to finding a solution that satisfies each and every patient’s desire for aesthetic improvement. To reach this goal, your surgeon will listen to your concerns and goals to determine realistic options. He will then explain what is possible, and make his recommendations, using multiple rhinoplasty before and after photos of other patients as examples. This helps to open the important lines of communication between you and your surgeon, ensuring that you have realistic expectations for the outcome and that your surgeon has an excellent understanding of what you want before heading into surgery.
Nose job recovery:
Recovering from a nose job requires some patience. Bruising and swelling will hide results, but most of it goes away within the first few weeks after your surgery. If you have a weak septum, a stent may be placed. The stent will be removed after a few days. The small sutures placed just outside the nostrils will be removed after a week. Finally, if gypsum is used to protect the bone structure as it heals, it will be removed after 2 weeks.
You’ll be asked to use saline in your nose for a period of time to minimize the risk of infection. No antibiotics are prescribed unless infection occurs.
Generally speaking, full results can be seen in a few months. However, if you have thicker skin on your nose, it can take up to a year or so. This is because swelling usually lasts longer and it takes more time for the skin to retract to the modified bone and cartilage structures.
You can expect to return to work or school in 2 weeks.
Care after the nose job:
- Avoid strenuous activities such as aerobics and jogging.
- Take baths instead of showers while you have bandages on your nose.
- Not blow your nose.
- Eat high-fiber foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to avoid constipation. Constipation can cause you to strain, putting pressure on the surgery site.
- Avoid extreme facial expressions, such as smiling or laughing.
- Brush your teeth gently to limit movement of your upper lip.
- Wear clothes that fasten in the front. Don’t pull clothing, such as shirts or sweaters, over your head.
At first, you may be disappointed with your results. But as the swelling disappears, your new nose will gradually appear — and you’ll be impressed! It won’t be the focus of your face anymore because it will blend so harmoniously with the rest of your facial features. You’ll notice people won’t stare at it when they speak with you, because it won’t command attention anymore. Your nose will look like it fits in, just like how you wanted it to look!
What Is Rhinoplasty Procedure?
A rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure that changes the shape and/or size of the nose. Any part of the nose, such as the bridge or nostrils, can be reshaped and resized to achieve more harmonious proportions that complement the overall appearance of the face better.
Who Can Perform nose job?
Rhinoplasty can be performed by a board certified plastic surgeon with experience in the surgery. The surgeon should have knowledge of facial anatomy and a keen artistic eye.
Medical Tourism: What Do You Think About Getting A Nose Job Overseas?
It is true that the price of a nose job overseas can be more budget friendly. However, consider the drawbacks of traveling such a distance for your rhinoplasty:
There are a number of post-operative appointments scheduled to track your recovery progress. Your nose is examined and you’ll discuss how you’re doing. The best person to meet during these appointments is your operating surgeon, or other medical professional at the clinic because they’re most familiar with your situation and the details of your surgery. Plane tickets, accommodations, food — imagine how costly this will all become!
Medical and safety standards in other countries are different, and the qualifications of surgeons may not be the same. They may not be as rigorous as those in Sweden. This may increase your risk of developing complications.
It is not unusual for complications to occur after a patient has returned home. The best person to address these complications is the operating surgeon, because they know what was done during the surgery. How are you going to travel to meet with your surgeon if your health is compromised by an infection or other issue?
For these reasons, we discourage traveling to countries with different medical standards and practices.
Who Invented Rhinoplasty?
It is believed that the first surgical procedure performed on a broken nose was recorded in Ancient India circa 600-500BC.
Where Are Rhinoplasty Stitches?
For an open rhinoplasty, stitches are placed inside the nostrils and just under your nose, on the columella. These are removed after one week. For a closed rhinoplasty, stitches are only placed on the columella. Non-dissolvable sutures are removed in one week after your surgery. The resulting scar is barely visible.
Are Rhinoplasty Revisions Free?
Yes, revisions to correct obvious issues are free at our clinic.
Nose job: How Long Does It Last?
Results last for a long time. They are pretty much permanent, although the effects of aging may slightly alter the appearance of your nose.
What Is Rhinoplasty And Septoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is the medical term for any plastic surgical procedure that modifies the nose. Septoplasty is the medical term for any surgical procedure that corrects a deviated septum. Septoplasty is a commonly requested procedure at our clinic.
When a patient undergoes a nose job to target aesthetic issues as well as to correct a deviated septum, this is called septorhinoplasty.
