Breast augmentation is one of the top 3 most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures for women around the world. Needless to say, women who have had breast augmentation experience a dramatic improvement of their body contour. When you get breast augmentation, you’ll also enjoy larger and more proportionately sized breasts that are complementary to your overall figure. But did you know that you may also experience great improvements in your self-esteem and self-confidence with your renewed sense of femininity?
A Positive Transformation
Prospective outcome study of 225 cases of breast augmentation is a 2013 study that was published in the medical journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery®. This study found that of the 225 patients who had breast augmentation, 207 (92%) reported improved levels of self-esteem. In addition, well over half said that they experienced a higher quality of life after surgery.
With an outstanding 98% satisfaction rate amongst patients, you, too, may enjoy the same positive transformation of your body and mind from breast augmentation.

Breast augmentation at Estetikcentrum
10 Reasons Why Your Breast Augmentation in Malmö is Better at Estetikcentrum
We are Sweden’s premiere plastic surgery clinic and breast augmentation specialist. Our patients routinely recommend their friends and family to us for breast augmentation for several reasons, and we’ve chosen the top 10 here:
1. A Safer Approach
There are several locations where the incision can be placed during surgery, but we prefer only one: the inframammary incision. This incision is placed within the breast crease, located underneath the breast within the inframammary fold.
We believe the inframammary fold incision to be superior because of these reasons:
It provides the best and easiest placement of the breast implants. Your implants can be positioned in the optimal location, giving you more natural-looking results. This shortens your surgery and the amount of time you’re under anesthesia. After all, the longer you’re under the effects of anesthesia, the more intense nausea, grogginess and other side effects can be.
It has a lower complication and infection rate. The two other common incision placements are associated with higher complication rates. For example, the transaxillary approach (through the armpit) can damage your sweat glands and is a more invasive surgery since a tunnel needs to be made for the implant to move from your armpit into your breast. Additionally, the surgeon cannot see exactly where the implant is placed since they’re only able to work through the armpit. This may lead to a high risk of re-surgery to resolve implant displacement and improper positioning. The risk for infections and capsular contracture are also higher with a transaxillary approach. The other incision placement, the peri-areolar approach (partially along the border of the areola) can increase your risk of nipple numbness and compromise your ability to breastfeed in the future.
2. Over 2000 Cosmetic Breast Surgeries Performed
We are not a team of inexperienced plastic surgeons fresh out of medical school. We have performed over 2000 cosmetic breast surgeries, the vast majority of these being breast augmentation. Our patients have travelled from near and far to enjoy the beautiful results that have made our surgeons world famous.
3. Your Choice of Female Plastic Surgeon
Some patients prefer the gentle touch and artistry of a female plastic surgeon to perform their surgery. For this reason, you have the option of choosing our female plastic surgeon. Dr Tina Tos has been senior consultant at the Plastic Surgery Department at Herlev University Hospital in Denmark since 2013. Highly esteemed by her peers, Dr Tos is a world-renowned microsurgeon and breast reconstruction specialist who has authored several medical studies on the topic.
4. Bloodless Surgery for a Faster Recovery and Lower Risk of Complications
You deserve the highest level of care. That’s why we are dedicated to providing you with the safest and most advanced surgical methods available in breast augmentation. Our “bloodless” surgery involves cauterization to seal blood vessels within the breast implant pocket formed during your surgery. This results in less bleeding.
Bleeding is a major concern since it is believed to be a cause of capsular contracture, a complication of breast augmentation. Capsular contracture (CC) is when the scar tissue around the implant becomes excessively thickened, tightening around the implant to distort its shape as well as the affected breast. CC is one reason why patients need revision surgery. However, our bloodless technique has drastically reduced the occurrence of CC to a rate that’s far lower than the norm.
Less bleeding also means that you’ll have less bruising and swelling after surgery, ultimately giving you faster-appearing results!
5. Fluid Warmers and Electric Warming Blanket
If you’ve ever had surgery or known someone who has, feeling cold right after surgery has ended is something that can be quite unpleasant. We definitely don’t want you to be shivering and feeling uncomfortable after your breast augmentation has finished! To prevent this, we warm all fluids prior to injection as well as cover you with an electric warming blanket to keep you cozy. Surprisingly, not all surgeons offer this due to the additional cost that they think is unnecessary, but it’s something that we do to make your experience a better one. These are offered at no extra charge to you.
6. You’ll Get a Slight Lift with Natural Looking and Feeling Results
Many women who undergo breast augmentation may also have sagginess of the breasts. If you have minor to moderate sagging (ptosis), you’ll be happy to know that there’s no need for you to get a breast lift in addition to your breast augmentation. Our dual layer incision technique and pocket placement positioned partially underneath the chest muscle (dual plane) corrects any slight sagginess you may have. These factors also contribute to more support for your newly augmented breasts, which may help delay the onset of sagging after surgery.
Furthermore, the dual plane implant position provides good coverage of the implant so it’s not as visible or palpable, giving you a more natural shape. We’ve found that there are fewer complications as well and mammograms are easier to take and read.
Longer Wound Support – The sutures we use are PDS (polydioxanone suture) or Vicryl. These are a type of absorbable suture that has been found to provide longer support when closing incisions, when compared to other types of synthetic absorbable sutures. This is due to its excellent tensile strength.
7. Full 5-year capsule warranty
8. 100% Observation from Dedicated Recovery Staff for Each Patient
Immediately after surgery, you’ll be taken to the recovery room where you’ll be observed before being discharged. We believe this time to be important since it’s the first step of your recovery. Even though you’ll probably be sleeping, you definitely won’t be left alone or ignored. You’ll have a dedicated team of recovery staff who will watch over you to make sure you’re alright at this time. In fact, a recovery nurse will actually sit right beside you as you rest, making sure you’re doing well. Someone will be with you, at your side, until you’re awake and clear in your head.
9. A Medical Note for the Full Two Weeks Off from Your Job
Recovering at home without worrying about your job or making money is crucial. We’ll give you a letter to provide to your place of employment entitling you to a full two weeks off, so you’ll have a less stressful recovery period without the worry of your job.
10. Revision Surgery to Correct Complications is FREE
Other clinics may charge you for revision surgery to correct complications, such as capsular contracture or excessive swelling. We don’t believe this is fair. That’s why at Estetikcentrum, you’ll get a 5-year warranty package on your breast augmentation at no extra charge. This means that if you develop complications such as capsular contracture (troublesome capsule formation around your implants), your corrective surgery performed within 5 years of your original surgery is completely FREE of charge.
Your Breast Augmentation Consultation
The consultation is the first step to realizing your new body. At other clinics, you may never meet the surgeon who performs your procedure until the day of. This can be unsettling. After all, you should know who will be performing your surgery beforehand, so you can be sure that they’ll understand your goals and unique needs. For this reason, you’ll always be able to meet the exact surgeon who will be operating on you. You’ll be able to talk to them about your specific expectations. Together, you’ll map out how your breast augmentation surgery will be done. At this time, you’ll also discuss the best breast implant for your body.
Choosing the Right Breast Implants: What breast implants to get
The right breast implants are necessary to fulfill your goals and give you the beautiful results you’re after. You have the choice of silicone breast implants manufactured by either Mentor or Motiva.
Silicone breast implants are considered to be far superior to saline breast implants for a few reasons:
- Silicone implants have a more natural feel. They resemble natural breast tissue better than saline. Saline tends to be overly firm.
- Silicone implants are softer so they look more natural than saline.
- Silicone implants have a lower rupture and deflation rate than saline.
- Silicone implants have a lower risk of visible rippling.
- Sometimes, you can hear a swishing sound from saline implants. There is no risk of that sound made from silicone implants.
Mentor is a global leader in breast implant manufacturing. Mentor breast implants are approved not just in Europe, but also by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the US. Such approval was obtained only after conducting thousands of hours of research proving the safety and effectiveness of their implants. A wide range of sizes are available, as well as both round and anatomical, aka teardrop, shapes. Mentor implants have a 10-year warranty.
Motiva is a newer implant device manufacturer that creates breast implants that have an extraordinarily natural texture and extra smooth surface. The combination of the unique silicone gel filling of these implants, along with their extremely elastic structure, means that the skin incision can be made smaller than for other implants and the risk of capsular contracture are also much smaller. These implants are also manufactured with microchips, so the exact model and type can be easily recognized from outside of the body.
Like Mentor, Motiva implants come in sizes from about 200 milliliters up to 1050 milliliters and are available in a range of projections. They are available in round and teardrop as well. Motiva implants have a 10-year warranty.
The Right Shape
Mentor and Motiva have both round implants and teardrop shaped implants. Motiva has coined their anatomical implants “Ergonomix”. Ergonomix implants adjust to the natural shape of your breasts after surgery.
The round implant, however, is the most common. This is because they tend to give a fuller look that many women prefer. Teardrop implants also have the risk of rotating after surgery, distorting the shape of the breast and making revision surgery necessary.
The Right Size
While most of our patients prefer a proportionate size that allows for a harmonious improvement of their overall body shape, the “right” size for you is entirely dependent on your preferences and body. You may want to have a subtle or dramatic increase — either way, your surgeon can give you a size range to work with that respects your body and achieves your goals. During your appointment, your surgeon will take a few measurements of your body, including your current breast width, height, size, and chest circumference. This type of dimensional planning is key when determining your ideal size range.
The Right Projection
Projection, also known as profile, refers to the height of the implant and how far it projects from your body. Height depends on the base width of an implant. For example, if you were to take 2 implants of the same size but with different base widths, the one with the lower base width would be taller. This would give your breast a more prominent contour. Generally speaking, if you want fuller breasts that are more prominent, and possibly more obviously augmented, then an implant with higher projection and greater volume is preferred. For a more discreet look, we choose an implant with a softer projection.
Motiva implants are available in four projections, ranging from wider to narrower base width: mini, demi, full and corsé. Mentor comes in moderate, moderate plus, high, and ultra high. Along with increased projection, the firmness of the implant also increases.
During your consultation, you will have plenty of time to try out different types of implants to see which one you prefer. Make sure to bring in a bra in the size you’d like to be and a form fitting t-shirt. That way, you’ll be able to try on the implants to see if you like them. Your surgeon will also provide you with a recommendation of implants based on your unique goals and body measurements.
Breast Augmentation Recovery
Right after surgery, you’ll be closely observed by a dedicated nurse. Your nurse will sit beside you and monitor you until you’ve woken up and are coherent. Because breast augmentation isn’t such an extensive surgery, you won’t need an overnight stay and will be able to return home the same day. You’ll receive complete instructions on how to care for your body, along with a compression bra that you should wear to support your newly enhanced breasts. You won’t need to pay extra for this compression bra, as it’s covered by the cost of surgery. Make sure to wear the bra, along with an elastic strap, day and night for 2-6 weeks. This helps with your recovery and gives you better results.
In addition to the bra, you’ll also receive pain medication and a number of other goodies to help with your recovery — for FREE!
At home, make sure to get plenty of rest. When moving around, do so slowly and gently at first. We’ll also teach you some exercises to do to help speed up your recovery. Don’t carry anything heavy for the first 2-3 weeks, and please refrain from strength training of the chest muscles and jogging (or other high impact activity) for 6-8 weeks.
The day after surgery, we’ll call you to make sure you’re doing well. You’ll also have a post-op checkup in 2 weeks, or 10 days if sutures need to be removed. Another appointment is made at 3 months after surgery.
Expect to take 10 days off from work, or longer if your job is physically strenuous.
Many patients ask: “how is breast augmentation recovery?” We’ll be honest with you — while some patients experience little discomfort and pain, you should be prepared to experience some level of pain after surgery. This discomfort can be controlled by prescribed pain medication. You should also expect some swelling and bruising, but all of these will gradually disappear in the days and weeks after your surgery.
In about 3-4 months, your breasts will take on the more natural shape that you hoped for. Your breasts will look fuller and even perkier than before. Our patients love their new shape, and you will, too!
