There are two reasons why those pinchable fat bulges you see are so hard to get rid of:
- Your body is programmed to store fat in certain places because it’s used as an energy and heat source. Your gender, metabolism and hormones play a big role in determining where and how much fat is stored.
- You can’t spot reduce fat. Medical studies have found that regardless of how intense you exercise one part of your body, there is no significant difference in the amount of fat reduced there when compared to other parts of your body.
So, no matter how much you exercise and how strict your diet is, you can’t get rid of stubborn bulges of fat because your body doesn’t want to. Despite all that hard work and effort, you’re disappointed when you look in the mirror and don’t seen any improvement in your body contour.

But You Can Spot Reduce Fat
While you may not be able to spot reduce with a healthy lifestyle, it is possible with liposuction. Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, liposculpture or lipectomy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes unwanted fat located just below the skin. Unlike exercise and diet, this procedure gives you the freedom of choosing exactly where you want to spot reduce fat. A 2015 study, titled Does Liposuction Improve Body Image and Symptoms of Eating Disorders?, found that women who had liposuction significantly improved how satisfied they were with their body. Their risk of developing an eating disorder also significantly decreased.
After liposuction, you’ll finally be able to enjoy the fitter, leaner appearance that you deserve without feeling embarrassed about “problem” areas, because you won’t have any! Our patients experience such a boost in self-esteem that it positively affects their professional, social and romantic life — and you can experience the same.
10 Reasons Why Your Liposuction in Malmö is Better at Estetikcentrum
A Gentler Surgery and Results That Appear Faster with Our Advanced Liposuction Technology.
In addition to the traditional liposuction technique, we also offer body-jet®. Body-jet® is a unique method of water-jet assisted liposuction (WAL) that has been proven to make fat removal easier and less traumatic, dramatically shortening the recovery period and giving you results that appear faster. Body-jet® gently separates the unwanted fat from surrounding tissues with a fan-shaped jet of fluid, a technique known as hydrodissection. By releasing the fat with hydrodissection, blood vessels, nerves and other tissues are less damaged when the fat is suctioned out. That means the procedure is potentially less dangerous and it is also less painful for you. You’ll have less bruising, bleeding and swelling, which means you’ll have a faster and easier recovery for faster appearing results!
Because of its ability to achieve the desired outcome with a shorter recovery period and fewer negative side effects, it has a high satisfaction rate amongst our patients. Results from the body-jet® liposuction device are excellent.
Body-jet® Is So Gentle That the Fat Removed Isn’t Harmed, Making It Possible to Transfer to Other Areas of the Body.
Body-jet® is deemed by many surgeons as the gold standard for fat transfer, particularly when harvesting fat for the buttocks (Brazilian butt lift) or the breasts. This luxury liposuction technique protects more of the harvested fat cells, drastically much more so than laser-assisted methods such as Smartlipo. The health of each fat cell is better preserved, so it can be effectively re-injected into the desired area and remain there, with a lower risk of being absorbed.
A bonus is that when performing fat transfer, the fat collected is automatically purified in the sterile holding canister for re-injection. That means there is no waiting around for an extra step to be performed because it’s done automatically. This makes the fat transfer procedure faster than traditional methods.
We Reduce Bleeding and the Risk of Fat Emboli.
Epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) is injected into the target areas at the beginning of the surgery. We do this for two reasons:
- Epinephrine constricts the blood vessels to reduce bleeding, post-operative bruising and swelling.
- Constricting the blood vessels also reduces the risk of fat embolism, a rare but serious complication associated with liposuction.
This is just one reason why we have been able to maintain an outstanding record of safety for our patients.
We Reduce the Risk of Infection.
For liposuction performed under general anesthesia, antibiotics are administered before surgery (antibiotic prophylaxis). This dramatically reduces the rate of infection following surgery. Even though infection following liposuction is quite rare, we believe that it is better to further reduce this risk for your safety and well-being.
Fluid Warmers Are Used for Your Comfort.
In addition to anesthesia, liposuction involves the administration of fluids to help make fat removal easier. Imagine how cold these fluids would make you feel if they weren’t warmed up beforehand? We make sure that all fluids administered to you are warmed up first, so your body doesn’t get shocked from cold. Along with your electric warming blanket, you’ll be much more comfortable!
You’ll Get a Free Specially Designed Compression Garment.
As you recover, you’ll be asked to wear a compression garment day and night. While there are many types of compression garments available out there, not all are effective and many are downright uncomfortable to wear. You’ll need to wear this garment constantly, except while bathing, for the first few weeks after your surgery, which is why it’s important that they not only fit properly, but are also as comfortable as possible. The garment we provide you with at no extra cost is specially designed to maximize the amount of compression that is applied evenly over the treated area. This helps minimize bruising and swelling for a faster recovery, as well as gives you smoother results.
We Prevent Lumpiness with a Unique Suctioning Technique.
In addition to your compression garment, another way we help reduce the risk of waviness, rippling and unwanted indentations in the treated area is by our unique suctioning technique. Going back and forth in the same area while suctioning out the wanted fat creates tunnels within the fatty tissues, which is how contour irregularities happen at the surface. This negatively impacts satisfaction rates. Instead, we move the cannula in different directions evenly throughout the area, so no tunnels are formed. It may take more time, but you’ll definitely appreciate your smoother results!
You Can Have Your Liposuction Under Local or General Anesthesia.
Going under during surgery can make some patients anxious. Nausea and grogginess are also common side effects associated with general anesthesia. If you prefer to remain awake during your liposuction, let us know. We can accommodate your request. Local anesthesia can be administered if you prefer to avoid the side effects that can happen with general anesthesia. It can also make the recovery period faster.
If You’ve Had General Anesthesia, You’re Observed by Your Very Own Recovery Room Nurse.
Right after your surgery, you’re taken to the recovery room. There, you’ll rest in peace and quiet for a couple of hours before being discharged. For the whole time you’re in the recovery room, you’ll be observed by your very own nurse. Your nurse will sit beside you and watch your vitals until you’re ready to go home. If you require any assistance, your nurse will be right there to help you.
Get a Goodie Bag.
You won’t be sent home empty handed. Not only will you receive free food and drinks to enjoy while you’re recovering, you’ll also be sent home with your complimentary compression garment, complete post-op instructions on how to take care of yourself, and a goodie bag filled with treats. You’ll get everything you need to make your experience a positive one!
Your Liposuction Consultation
Is liposuction right for you? Can it give you the results you want? Find out by speaking with the exact surgeon who’ll be performing your surgery. During your appointment, you’ll be able to get all of your questions answered and find out if your expectations can be met. Your health will be assessed as well to make sure the surgery is safe for you.
We are not here to make false promises to you. We’ll discuss your goals and be straightforward as to whether they are realistic and can be met. Sometimes, liposuction isn’t deemed safe or effective for potential patients. For example, someone with a BMI over 28 won’t get good results from liposuction. They may also be at such a high risk of developing complications that it wouldn’t be safe to have the surgery either. Another example is if there is a substantial amount of loose skin in the target area, particularly in older patients. Most commonly in the mid-section, this loose skin would only get looser and more prominent following liposuction. For this reason, a tummy tuck would be recommended instead.
However, if you’re younger you may find that your loose skin retracts following liposuction with body-jet®, so you may not need a tummy tuck or lift!
How Much Fat Can You Remove with Liposuction?
Your surgeon will discuss the amount of fat that would need to be eliminated to achieve your goals. The maximum amount that can be safely removed in a single surgery is about 4 litres, and this includes not just fat but all fluids as well (this is called aspirate and includes anesthetic fluid, saline and blood). The amount of fat in this aspirate is approximately 2-2.5 kg. Removing anything beyond that amount in a single surgery is too traumatic and dangerous for the patient.
Not every patient requires that much fat removed to get the results they want. Some patients require far less, depending on the area treated.
Liposuction isn’t as invasive as other surgical procedures, so the recovery period tends to be less intensive and shorter. No drains are used so you won’t have to bother with tubes coming out of you and dealing with recording discharge amounts. However, you should still be prepared to dedicate the majority of your time to resting and taking it easy. You’ll receive a medical note to give to your employer allowing you 1 to 2 weeks off, depending on the extent of your surgery. That will give you enough time to devote yourself to your recovery.
We’ll call you the day after your surgery to see how you’re doing and schedule a few appointments at different intervals to monitor your recovery. Follow your post-op instructions and wear your compression garment every day and night for the recommended time. At a week after surgery, you’ll have your sutures removed.
Swelling and bruising will gradually disappear over the weeks and months after your surgery. At three months or so, most of it should be gone. At that time, you’ll finally see the results of your surgery. You’ll be leaner and more toned, with a smoother shape that is in better harmony with the rest of your appearance.
Our patients enjoy heightened self-confidence. Like them, you’ll be so much happier with your appearance!
What are liposuction risks?
There are a few risks related to liposuction that you should know. Avoiding vitamins, supplements and medications that have blood thinning properties as well as smoking before and after surgery will reduce these risks. We recommend that you avoid smoking for at least a month.
- An equal amount of fat is removed on both sides. However, asymmetry and contour irregularity under the skin may still occur.
- Fat embolism
- Damage to blood vessels, nerves and internal organs
- Infection (smoking can increase your risk of infection substantially)
- Numbness (most numbness is temporary but in rare cases it can be permanent)
Why choose liposuction?
If you have stubborn fat bulges, exercise and diet will do little to reduce their size. This is because your body is pre-programmed to hold on to these fat pockets. In addition, it’s impossible to spot reduce so if you do lose weight, you can’t control where the fat comes off. Choose liposuction if you want to get rid of these fat bulges.
Which is better liposuction or liposculpture?
There is no difference between liposuction and liposculpture. They are both the same thing but are just different marketing terms. Liposculpture may portray an idea of “sculpting” the body, but that’s what liposuction does, too.
How long does swelling last?
There is some swelling that develops after surgery. Most swelling goes away within 3 months or so, by which time you should see your results. However, all swelling can take up to a year to disappear completely. Your compression garment, light physical activity and drinking plenty of fluids help.
Where are liposuction incisions?
Liposuction incisions are just a couple of millimetres in length and are usually placed in natural creases and folds in the target area. There may be one or more depending on the area treated.
How bad are liposuction scars?
Liposuction scars are very hard to see when they mature, since they’re extremely thin and light. This takes up to a year if you follow the post-op instructions we give you. Things like staying out of the sun and keeping the area clean will help minimize scars. Although we’ve never had a complaint about scarring from our patients, we can recommend products that can help scars fade. For example, we may recommend a product like silicone strips or tape to help improve scarring. This product can be bought at our clinic.
Are lumps after liposuction normal?
If the lumps appear right after surgery, then this is normal. As your recovery progresses, these lumps will gradually smooth out with the help of your compression garment. However, if after a couple of months the lumps are still visible, you’ll need to see your surgeon to discuss how to get rid of them. The presence of lumps is quite rare amongst our patients because of the advanced liposuction technology and techniques we apply.
