A lot of people, especially women experience issues such as excess skin and cellulite around the thighs due to aging or significant weight loss which consequently reduces the skin’s elasticity.  Excess skin around the thigh area leads to eczema and other forms of skin discomfort. Additionally, it makes it difficult to wear certain clothes since they won’t look appealing on the person. Reduced self-confidence is another side-effect of loose thighs. If you’ve lost a lot of weight, your thigh’s skin will naturally loosen so thigh lift surgery is able to help you achieve a more well-formed body.

Before and after thigh lift surgery

Slimmer and well-shaped thighs through thigh lift surgery:

The goal of a thigh lift is to reshape and improve the general contour of the thigh. This is done by lifting the skin which in turn increases its firmness. Thigh lift surgery can be combined with a liposuction. Thighs are slimmed using liposuction and the skin is lifted resulting in a new form that is proportionate to your body.

The benefits of thigh lift surgery:

Your thighs will look more beautiful after this surgery. They will look better both in shape and size. Your internal thigh looks more put together and you get rid of all that excess skin. So you’ll finally be able to wear your desired pants or skirt. It is also possible to improve how the area about the patient’s buttock looks.

While having a firm and plump buttocks is both aesthetically pleasing and healthy, the opposite, having saggy, flat but wide buttocks could be harmful to a woman’s self-esteem. Gravity, genetics, and aging are the main culprits in this case. Brazilian butt lift is one way to reshape the buttock. Through this method, you can improve the total proportion of your lower body and it also helps remove fat from the problematic part of the body such as the thighs and sides while improving how the buttocks look. The results of this surgery last for years. We’ve previously covered butt lift in another post, so we recommend that you take a look at that as well.

Before the surgery, you’ll meet with your surgeon and during the session, they will answer all of your doubts and questions. You medical records and condition will be examined. This examination includes checking the size and shape of your buttock and thigh, your skin condition, whether or not you have wounds on your skin, your thigh muscles’ condition, and the leg’s vessels. The surgeon will recommend the best solution for your lower body and thigh’s aesthetic based on your condition. Some folks need to combine thigh lift with butt lift surgery and varicose treatment to achieve the best results

if you wish to lose a lot of weight in the near future or plan to become pregnant, then it would be for the best to consult with your doctor. It might be better to postpone your surgery after you’ve lost your weight or given birth so that your achieved results don’t change.

Your doctor will also talk to you about certain life style changes that need to be made in order to maintain the results of the thigh lift. Proper Movement exercises to help tighten thigh muscles and a suitable diet will also be given to you.

Necessary preparations for thigh lift surgery:

To improve results and prevent issues from occurring during surgery, the following steps are necessary:

  • Stop using vitamin E, Ibuprofen medication, aspirin, and estrogen

  • Using antibiotics in case they’re prescribed

Thigh lift at Estetikcentrum:

Thigh lift at Estetikcentrum is performed under general anesthesia. This surgery takes hours. The pattern and shape of the incisions depend on the treatment area in mind and the amount of correction needed to be made.

A common thigh lift method is making incisions down along the groin and going around the back of the thigh. In this method, experienced surgeons make a T-shaped incisions from the inner thigh to the groin. The underlying tissue is lifted and reshaped, the extra skin is removed and lifted again. In the end, the patient’s appearance from the inner thigh to the knees will look smoother and well-formed. This method leaves a long vertical scar along the inner thigh till the knees. Even though the scar fades away to a large extent after a while, but many patients are willing to accept it to achieve their well-formed lower body.

If you don’t have enough excess skin, you’re a suitable candidate for thigh lift through small incisions which includes a single incision made in the groin area. This method improves how the thigh looks and removes saggy skin only in one third of the inner thigh. Therefore, if you’re looking for a more inclusive result, encompassing a wider area, then this method will not be suitable for you. In comparison with the above mentioned method, the scar is much shorter and hidden under the clothes.

By removing skin from the front and back of the leg, an incision is made above the leg on the underwear line. The skin is lifted from this place and removed. The incision is later sutured.

This surgery can be combined with liposuction to achieved better results. Liposuction works great on parts such as thighs and buttocks, mostly due to the vast accumulation of fat in those areas. After the fat is extracted, a lot of excess skin remains which can be removed through thigh lift surgery. Thigh lift surgery is not used to solely remove excess skin. If your skin is elastic enough and can adapt itself to the body’s new form, the liposuction will be enough to reshape the thigh and extract fat. Liposuction in tandem with surgery is only recommended when the patient exhibits high levels of fat and excess skin on their body.

After the thigh lift is done, the deep subcutaneous tissues are sutured in a way which help reshape the way the thigh and buttock looks. Finally, the subcutaneous incisions are sutured shut and the wound is dressed.

Post-surgery care tips:

Thigh lift is an outpatient procedure so the patient can return home that very same day. Though they have to return for an examination after a week. During the session, the healing of the surgical scars are checked and the sutures are removed after two weeks.

You’ll experience some degree of pain the day after surgery. The pain is rather annoying but luckily it can be managed using painkillers. Use your prescribed medication the night after the surgery.

Showering is forbidden for 48 hours after thigh lift surgery. Make sure to take a shower or bath before the surgery.

You’ll have to avoid lifting heavy objects or participating in activities that put pressure on your lower body for 6 weeks. After the surgery, you can start to slowly walk again. You’ll have to walk very slowly and carefully for two weeks.

Signs of swelling and bruising are completely normal after a thigh lift and need time to fade away.

You can return to your usual activities after two weeks. After this period, you can also return to your workplace.

You’ll have to wear a compression garment for 3 to 4 weeks to fully support the tissues recently undergone surgery and help your skin become compatible with your thigh’s new form. This is especially important when the thigh lift is done together with liposuction. Using a compression garment helps put equal pressure on parts where fat was extracted from. So the thighs and buttocks have better shape without putting extra pressure on them. Follow your surgeon’s instructions carefully to achieve the best possible results. During the first two weeks, the thigh needs to be wrapped in bandage at all times. After this period, your thigh needs to stay wrapped only during the day for a few weeks (per their instruction).

Doing light exercises is usually recommended because it expedites your recovery and reduces the risk of blood clotting. But you shouldn’t participate in intense and high pressure exercises and sports. The surgeon will tell you how long it takes for you to return to your normal daily routine. Makes sure to do the thigh muscle strengthening exercises exactly as instructed at the recommended time.

Similar to all other kinds of surgery, there is high risk infection but this risk is very rare in thigh lift surgery. At Estetikcentrum, we follow the highest standards in practice to prevent infection in patients.

When will the results of thigh lift become noticeable and how long will they last?

The results of thigh lift surgery are instantly noticeable afterwards but to enjoy the final results, l you’ll have to wait for the swelling and bruising to go down. Once the results are in your thighs will be slimmer than before and better proportioned to your waist. The only bad news is that your old pants and skirts might not fit you anymore so you’ll have to renew your whole wardrobe.

If your weight stays the same after the surgery, and you regularly exercise and follow a healthy diet, then the results of thigh lift surgery will last for a long time. It’s perfectly normal for your thigh’s skin to lose its firmness as you age. But for the most part, the changes achieved with this surgery are completely permanent and will never fade.
