Dark spots on your face that won't go away no matter how much you scrub, rub and try to cover with concealer, do you recognize them? Pigment spots are super common and can appear for several different reasons, where both sun, hormones and acne can be the culprit.

But what is really the best way to get rid of them? Should you use a chemical peel, try a laser or are creams enough? Here, we'll get to the bottom of it, so you can find the right treatment for your skin.

Pigment spots and their causes

To know which treatment is best for you, it's important to understand why the pigment spots have appeared in the first place. It is usually because the skin is producing too much melanin in certain areas, making some areas darker than others. This can be triggered by, for example, sun exposure, hormonal imbalances during pregnancy or inflammation of the skin after acne.

Pigment spots on the face are not dangerous, but of course they can make you feel a bit unattractive or uneven in tone. What's more, some stains stay on for ages, no matter how hard you try to work them out at home. Then it might be time to take a look at our professional treatments here at Estetikcentrum.

Best solution for pigment spots

If you've googled around, you'll know that there are quite a few options, but here are some of the most common and effective ways to treat pigmentation spots on the face.

Chemical peel
A chemical peel is a real favorite at the Estetikcentrum, where we work in depth to stimulate the skin's natural renewal process. The treatment can be customized to your specific needs and skin type, and the skin therapist will choose the peel that suits you best. For example, chemical peels can help reduce pigmentation, sun spots, melasma or old pimple marks. Single treatments often provide a nice refreshment, while a course of several treatments can provide more extensive and long-lasting results.

Laser
Laser treatments also work well against pigment spots, especially when it comes to sun damage or age spots. However, lasers are not for everyone, as some skin types can react strongly. Our skilled and competent skin therapists will of course help you decide if laser is the right way for you.

Creams
There are actually good pigment smoothing creams on the market, but many are far too weak to give results on deeper and darker pigmentation. We use products from brands like Neostrata and Dermaceutic, which are medically formulated and much stronger than what you find in regular stores. Sometimes the right skincare routine can go a long way, especially if you complement it with one of our treatments.
