Lips do so much for the whole expression. They frame the face, show emotion and often attract attention. So it's not surprising that many people consider having them slightly enlarged. But before you book an appointment, it can be good to know both the pros and cons.

Here's what you need to know, especially if you're considering fat lip augmentation, which is an increasingly popular alternative to fillers.

Benefits of enlarging the lips

It may go without saying, but there are many benefits to enhancing the lips and making them fuller both in appearance and emotion.

Fuller lips to suit your face

Whether you want a small increase in volume or a bigger change, lip augmentation can give you a result that feels more in line with the rest of your features. It can also smooth out asymmetries if that's something that's been bothering you.

Clearer contours

With clearer lip lines, the face looks and feels more defined. It is a great option for those who feel that their lips have lost their shape over the years or that they have "blurred" edges.

Avoid drooping mouths

A bonus of lip augmentation is that it often helps to lift the corners of your mouth, so you don't look tired or sad when you're not. If you choose lip enhancement with fat, you won't have to go back for a refill every six months. The results often last for many years and are sometimes completely permanent.

Disadvantages to be aware of

Although lip augmentation comes with many benefits, at Estetikcentrum we are careful to inform you of the minor risks involved, so that you can make a decision that is well thought out and based on facts. Serious risks are very rare. As some of the transplanted fat is naturally absorbed by the body, there is the possibility of repeating the treatment if you want to increase the volume further.

As with any procedure involving an injection, you may experience some swelling and soreness for a few days. This is completely normal, but it can be good to plan some recovery time. If we have used your own fat, it is also the body's own tissue we are working with. In all types of fat grafting, it is not uncommon for the body to absorb some of the fat that is injected. We therefore usually prepare our patients for the fact that the result may need to be adjusted with a second treatment, although it is often fine the first time.

Requires more recovery

Another factor that can be seen as a disadvantage is that lip augmentation with its own fat requires a longer recovery, compared to fillers. The surgery requires both more time and more planning and the recovery is longer. However, it is still a very safe and proven option that has been popular for many years.
