A forehead lift differs from a brow lift in that the entire forehead is lifted instead of just the eyebrows. The plastic surgeon makes a long incision along the entire hairline, in some cases it can also be placed a little bit into the hairline.
The surgeon then loosens the forehead skin from the incision down towards the eyebrows and here the surgeon may need to divide some of the forehead muscles. The forehead skin is then strengthened up towards the incision and the excess skin is removed which is now above the incision. In some cases, excess skin is removed from the eyelids (eyelid surgery).
A dressing is then applied and left on for a certain number of days. You will be informed by our operating room nurse how long the dressing should be on. This operation is performed under general anesthesia or light anesthesia (sedation), but for those who feel anxious about being put to sleep, the forehead lift can also be performed under local anesthesia and sedative medication.
