Breast reduction is a relatively safe operation, as nothing new is introduced, but only removed.
In the case of a breast reduction, the operation always takes place under anesthesia, which in itself can pose a risk.
You will always receive a clear overview of the risks your surgery may entail during your consultation. You will also receive material to read through in the peace and quiet of your own home.
After a breast reduction, it is very important to follow the surgeon's instructions for recovery.
Typically, you will need to avoid heavy physical activity for a few weeks and wear supportive clothing or a bra.
Pain, bruising, and swelling may occur during the first few weeks, but they gradually decrease.
You can usually return to normal activities and work after about six weeks, but full recovery may take a few months.
Avoid lifting heavy objects and activities that may interfere with healing.
After about two weeks of rest with a low level of activity, you can begin exercising carefully.
